The lower jaw is a channel in which the mandibular nerve is located, and blood vessels. Its thickness reaches a few millimeters. However, in cases where the channel is too high, it can prevent the installation of dental implants, as the length of the implant should be adequate to ensure their durability and reliability. What remains to do in this case, because the implant can not pass through this channel? In this situation, a so-called "lateralization" of the nerve and blood vessels passing in the mandibular canal, that is, their movement (from the lateral – lateral, branch). A situation where the lower jaw is the place where it passes the channel is quite high and prevents the installation of dental implants of appropriate length, usually found molars of the mandible: molar and premolar, when these teeth are lost. The increase in height in this case due to the fact that the prolonged absence of teeth in this area comes atrophy of the jaw bone, resulting in a channel of the lower jaw as it is higher than usual.

How is done lateralization?
Lateralization procedure is performed under local anesthesia. At the level of the channel in the lower jaw bone is cut out "window" through which nerves and blood vessels in the channel carefully tightened down. As a result, there is the possibility of an implant without affecting the nerves and blood vessels of the mandibular canal. After the dental implant is installed, the window closes progress bone.
